RP Guide & Rules

What is Role playing?
A role-playing game is a game in which the participants assume the roles of fictional characters. Participants determine the actions of their characters based on their characterization, and the actions succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines. Within the rules, players have the freedom to improvise; their choices shape the direction and outcome of the game.

Role playing games are fundamentally different from most other types of games in that they stress social interaction and collaboration, whereas board games, card games, and sports emphasize competition.

In my opinion, the difference between a token and a role-played character is this: Hypothetically, a person watching the game looks over your shoulder and suggests a move, and your reply is "No, my character wouldn't do that." If this happens, or is capable of happening, then at some level you are playing a role-playing game. This simple distinction puts a world of difference between RPG's and other games.

- In order to kill someone, your character must first have a reason to do so.
- You do not know someone's name without someone that does know it telling to you.
- When attacking someone, you must use emote. Try to use more then just "[person attacks other person]". Give at least 15 seconds reaction time!
- When talking oocly, use brackets! [ ], { }, < >, ( ).
- Do not go to places your character has no reason to go to, for example the Charmed Manor, if you do not know anyone that lives here.
- More info to come!!

Role playing rules

Here is a list of official role playing rules, you are expected to uphold these rules! Failing to do so may result in your RP being declared void and even jailing!

1. Attack Emotes
- All attack emotes must be at least 3 lines in size, emotes with only 1 or 2 lines are to be considered void!
- You may only do a single attack per emote! Multiple attacks in a single emote or attacking twice without a second emote is considered void! This is a jail able offense!!
- If the target emotes running away, you may not chase the player. You must emote again before you are allowed to attack!
- If an attack emote is 3 to 5 lines, then 15 seconds responds needs to be give. If an attack is 6-8 lines, then 20 seconds needs to be given.

2. Defense Emotes
- A defense emote must follow 2 rules; Explain what you're defending against and describe how you defend yourself. If you lack one of these, your emote will be voided.
- If you emote dodging, running or teleporting, you MUST perform these actions. Getting attacked after emoting but not actually acting the emote out will make this a legal attack! However the attacker may not move or chase the target!
- Countering the attack with your own attack follows the rules of an Attack Emote and requires 15 seconds responds time.
- If you intervene as a third person jumping in, you must follow normal rules. Defenses can be done instantly, attacks need 15 seconds.

3. Killed by the game
- If you are killed by the firebolts in the painting, this is a legit kill and you will not be revived.
- If you die by creating a potion from flesh that is to strong, this will be considered as a IC death and you will not be revived.

4. General
- All emotes (exception of defense emotes) require 15 second responds time. If others are around you, they must be given responds time before acting out the emote.
- The line below is the standard size for 1 line, you can use that to measure the size of your emote

5. Challenges
- For a challenge to be legit, you must RPly challenge the person IC.
- Challenge fights do not need to be RPed unless agreed by both chars prior to the challenge

6. Rank/Hybrid/Powerset
To limit the amount of ranks, hybrids or people with a second powerset, the following rule has been set in place. If you current character has a rank/hybrid/powerset and dies, then your next char may not have that as well.
- You must have at least 1 non rank/hybrid/powerset character before applying for this again
- You must wait at least 3 days before applying for this again
